chris
Hi Team,

I've new to Baruwa and i've installed baruwa community edition through
cent os installer. Baruwa Web interface is working fine and it block
spam and viruses. I need to set custom spam score. I set up custom score
in admin account but its not taking effect system wide.

Also baruwa is not sending notification to the sender when their email
was blocked in Baruwa.

Spam Score is set at the Organization level. If you set it at Admin, it will only be for that users email.

A cronjob runs and notifies the user.

Hi Jeremy,

I've the below commands in cron, is this correct? Please check and let
me know the other cron jobs also.

[root@baruwa-01 ~]# cat /etc/cron.d/baruwa
*/3 * * * * exim /home/baruwa/px/bin/paster update-queue-stats
/etc/baruwa/production.ini >/dev/null 2>&1
0 * * * * baruwa /home/baruwa/px/bin/paster update-sa-rules
/etc/baruwa/production.ini >/dev/null 2>&1
0 * * * * root /home/baruwa/px/bin/paster update-delta-index --index
messages --realtime /etc/baruwa/production.ini >/dev/null 2>&1
0 0 * * * baruwa /home/baruwa/px/bin/paster send-quarantine-reports
/etc/baruwa/production.ini >/dev/null 2>&1
0 1 * * * baruwa /home/baruwa/px/bin/paster prune-database
/etc/baruwa/production.ini >/dev/null 2>&1
9 1 * * * root /home/baruwa/px/bin/paster update-delta-index --index
archive /etc/baruwa/production.ini >/dev/null 2>&1
0 2 * * * baruwa /home/baruwa/px/bin/paster prune-quarantine

0 6 1 * * baruwa /home/baruwa/px/bin/paster send-pdf-reports
/etc/baruwa/production.ini >/dev/null 2>&1

Also I noticed there is no option in Oraganization level. I can see the
below details while adding new organization.

Organization Name:
Domains:
Admins:

Please give me the link to setup Baruwa.

Thanks

Re: Baruwa custom spam score

jeremymcs
Sorry, I meant at the Domain.

http://www.domain.com/domains/add

Will set score for this domain.

If adjusted within the Accounts tab, the user will over-ride the domain setting.

/etc/cron.d/baruwa line 4

0 0 * * * baruwa /home/baruwa/px/bin/paster send-quarantine-reports /etc/baruwa/production.ini >/dev/null 2>&1

This will only send to a user who is on the system. Meaning if your doing a broad sweep of a domain and forwarding onto exchange or another mail server, those users will not get quarantined reports.
They must be added as a user on the baruwa machine.

Re: Baruwa custom spam score

Hi,

Thanks for your information. But i've 10 servers and every server has
minimum of 300 domains. Its not practical to add all the servers domains
in Baruwa. Please advise me to set server wide spam score.

Do i need to add the account in baruwa, then only the user will be
notified. I thought the sender will be notified when the mail gets
blocked.

Without adding the domains, baruwa will not accept the message. Unless your setup as an open relay ?

You can import all of the domains via sql.

Do you have that user set to get notified ?

Look at the user settings. Do you have any email in quarantine for that user ?

If your running an open relay, your on you own. I will not assist you with that. It is insecure, your servers will get blocked all over the internet, very bad practice and shunned upon.

Hi,

Yes i've enabled user notification, but i do not have any email to this
user as quarantined. If so, i need to add all the domains emails address
in Baruwa then only the user will get notification about block.

Please suggest me the simplest way to notify the user and add all the
domain also spam score.

Thanks.

Send some spam to test quarantine and notifications to that user.

Baruwa works with Organization then Domains. It sounds like you want 1 user to get notified of all quarantined messages for all domains?

Your referring to smtp relay, and not open relay. An open relay means machines can send through you without some layer of authentication; either IP/user/pass.

Baruwa is a gateway. (in most cases) It picks mail up, scans and re-delivers. (for the most part)

You can read the Administrators guide at https://www.baruwa.org/docs/2.0/guide/admin/index.html

Personally, if your running 10 servers each with 300 domains, your going to need to learn psql commands. Also, the community edition does not allow clustering so you will have a single point of failure for each server.
I would recommend you stepping it up to the Enterprise edition so you get better support, as well as the options to cluster the servers together.

Hi,

Sorry for inconvenience to get back you. I've big confusion about mail
notification. is baruwa has the user details to notify the spam block
details? if so, do i need to add all the mail accounts created with the
domain in Baruwa server?

As my point is, for example, i've a domain called analog.com, and it
has 10 mail accounts. in that [hidden email] user mails are blocked as
spam in baruwa. So i need to notify the user [hidden email] about his
mail is blocked in Baruwa as Spam.

Please let me know about i need to all 10 mail accounts in Baruwa then
only i could get mail notification.

Thanks in Advance.

Hi,

I've added a domain and also added account in that domain for the same
organization, then i've set the low spam score as 4.0 in both domain and
account details.

I've sent a mail which has spam score 4.14, but its not listed as spam.
Please advise me.

Thanks.

Hi,

I've set both as quarantine only.

What to do with Spam: Quarantine
What to do with High Spam: Quarantine

Thanks.
