Installing on Centos 6.2

Kevin Miller
I'm trying to install Baruwa 2, following the instructions on http://pythonhosted.org/baruwa/community/install.html#.

I get to this step (Apply the patches section):
  cd px/lib/python2.6/site-packages/repoze/who/plugins/
which fails as there is no repoze directory.

Clues/hints?

Go with Cent 6.4 and that patch I believe is already merged into source.

If you are unable to get it installed, you can try the installer at baruwa-install.com

Re: Installing on Centos 6.2

Kevin Miller

Thanks.  The box I’m trying to install on is rather old (it’ll be a tertiary gateway) and blew odd errors trying to install 6.4.  I don’t have anything newer at the moment.

I’ll take a look at your installer – thanks…

Re: Installing on Centos 6.2

Kevin Miller
In reply to this post by jeremymcs

I used the installer, which went fine from all appearances however I can’t log on the web page.  I’m using the baruwa admin account that was in the email sent after the install finished.  I also tried my local account on that box to no avail.  Am I using the wrong account?

BTW, originally I’d installed 6.2, but when I booted it up, it said CentOS 6.4.  Patching must bring it all the way up to date.  (I ran yum update before running the baruwa install scritp.)

TIA…

More than likely your password wasn’t secure enough.

Use the installer to install the baruwa-admin script and reset your password. Make it secure!

What are the complexity requirements.  My password contained mixed case letters, numbers and 11 characters long.

Re: Installing on Centos 6.2

Kevin Miller

Here’s the output.  In the past I’ve used Mailwatch, and the users there are just ‘database’ users – no local or domain accounts.  I presumed that the Baruwa accounts are the same but it seems to want to see a local account.  I have a local account called baruwa, but got the same message trying to set the password on it in the baruwa-admin scritp as well.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

        C H A N G E  U S E R  P A S S W O R D

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We are now going to change a users password.

What user would you like to change the password for?

Username: baruwa-admin

/home/baruwa/px/lib/python2.6/site-packages/sqlalchemy/engine/default.py:475: SAWarning: Unicode type received non-unicode bind param value.

  processors[key](compiled_params[key])

No local user found with username baruwa-admin

Thanks…

No local user found with username baruwa-admin <<— baruwa-admin user does not exist in the database.
Use the same username you used when you ran the script, or create a new user. Reference the email the installer sent you for the proper username.
